Members of UCMTF to attend Techtextil 2011

Members of UCMTF to attend Techtextil 2011The French machinery manufacturers group, which considers itself as part of the technical textiles industry, will welcome technical textiles and nonwovens producers at TECHTEXTIL 2011 (Frankfurt, May 24-26)

“We understand the unique needs of the technical textiles producers and the importance of providing them tailored solutions to address their specific requirements. Our main objectives are to help them design new marketable products and produce them in a safe and cost efficient way. That’s why we encourage our members to attend TECHTEXTIl next May in Frankfurt” states Evelyne Cholet, Secretary General of the French Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers (UCMTF).

French textile machinery manufacturers are often world leaders on their specialties. Their strategy is to offer tailor made solutions to solve customers’ needs and be their long term
partners. This strategy is particularly fitted to the nonwovens and technical textiles sectors in which the machinery manufacturers are really integrated. This is how new markets for the technical textiles can be opened.

Thanks to this strategy, France is the 6th machinery exporter, particularly strong in weaving preparation, nonwovens machinery, spinning machinery, and finishing machinery. The total turnover is slightly over 1 billion Euros (1.3 billion US$), nearly all of it being exported all over the world.

These markets are complex and limited in size. They do not attract the new and large machinery manufacturers from such countries as China.

Not to work on technology innovations behind the closed doors of the machinery manufacturers’ laboratories but very closely with the customers to understand their needs and offer them solutions is particularly important for the technical textile applications which require real partnerships to design the specific technologies to produce new marketable end products.

Almost three-fold increase in Rieter Textile Systems orders

The recovery in the textile machinery and automotive markets that had started in the second half of 2009 continued in 2010. Despite the usual seasonal effects at Automotive Systems in the second six months, demand over the course of the year as a whole was at a considerably higher level than in the previous year.

Orders received by the Rieter Group in the 2010 financial year totaled 3’170.0 million CHF. Compared to the previous year’s figure, this corresponded to an increase of 64% (1’935.1 million CHFin 2009). The trend in order intake was dynamic throughout the year. The steep rise compared with the previous year was due primarily to very strong demand at Textile Systems. The 32% increase in sales by the Rieter Group was less than the growth in orders received due to the low order volume in the previous year. Sales were slightly higher in the second half of the year than in the first six months and totaled 2’585.8 million CHF (1’956.3 million CHF in 2009). Exchange rate trends adversely affected both key figures, especially in the second half. In local currency terms, orders received and sales increased by 68% and 36%, respectively, in the year under review. Based on exchange rates prevailing in 2007, consolidated sales would currently already be 2.9 billion CHF again.

Rieter Textile Systems:
almost three-fold increase in orders received
The world market for spinning machinery and components recorded a strong recovery with a broad regional base in the year under review, following two years of conspicuously weak demand. The main markets for Rieter were China, India and Turkey. There was also a large volume of demand from Bangladesh, Brazil, Indonesia, Pakistan, South Korea, and also the USA. The upswing was driven by investment demand for replacements and expansion as well as strong growth in textile consumption in the major Asian markets. Rieter Textile Systems successfully exploited the positive trend due to its strong market position, increasingly also in machinery and technology components which are adapted to local needs in emerging markets.

The first veteran spinning machines on the Rieter website

Some months ago Rieter launched a search for the oldest Rieter spinning machine. Rieter is offering the owner of the oldest spinning machine still in operation a trip to the ITMA in Barcelona including the flight and a two-night stay. A prize draw will award Swiss quality watches to two further owners of veteran Rieter spinning machines.

This campaign has met with considerable interest, and Rieter is now presenting the first candidates on its website.

Rieter is looking for the machine with the most years of service which is still currently in daily use in a
spinning mill to produce yarn from fiber, from bale opening to spinning machine, manufactured by Rieter, Schubert & Salzer or Ingolstadt Spinnereimaschinenbau.

The first e-mails with pictures and details of spinning machines have already reached Rieter. The most interesting machines are described below:

In China 26-year-old E 7/5 combers and E 5/3 combing preparation machines are still in production at Qiaoguang Textile Co. Ltd. These machines are still in good condition and the customer is full of praise for their quality, and especially their wear resistance.

Rieter has received an e-mail from El Salvador with pictures of various drawframes. Our customer Hilosa (Industria de Hilos) has operated SB 851, RSB 951 SB 2 and SB 10 drawframe models since 1978 und is still very satisfied with the reliability of these machines.
