Orders of textile machinery grows - ACIMIT

Orders for Italian textile machinery grew over the second quarter of 2010, which closed with an overall index of 159.5 points for the period from April/June, amounting to a 35% increase compared to the previous quarter.

In market terms, the orders index processed by
ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, indicates a 40% increase abroad and a 5% increase in Italy.

Commenting on the data, Sandro Salmoiraghi, President of ACIMIT, stated that “the growth in orders is a satisfying element, but the recovery has more or less equally rewarded other machinery manufacturing Countries as well, so that competition on international markets is even fiercer than in the past.”

Forecasts for the third quarter of 2010 provided by producers indicate an essentially stable situation in all segments for Italy’s domestic market. More consistent signs of optimism are coming from foreign sales.

“The orders coming in over the next three months” affirms Salmoiraghi “will be decisive in understanding whether the recovery marks a real reversal of trends.”

ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) is a private national body that gathers Italian textile machinery companies producing more than 80% of the entire Italian
textile machinery production, and some associated members (consortia, technical schools, technical magazines, research centres).

The first veteran spinning machines on the Rieter website

Some months ago Rieter launched a search for the oldest Rieter spinning machine. Rieter is offering the owner of the oldest spinning machine still in operation a trip to the ITMA in Barcelona including the flight and a two-night stay. A prize draw will award Swiss quality watches to two further owners of veteran Rieter spinning machines.

This campaign has met with considerable interest, and Rieter is now presenting the first candidates on its website.

Rieter is looking for the machine with the most years of service which is still currently in daily use in a
spinning mill to produce yarn from fiber, from bale opening to spinning machine, manufactured by Rieter, Schubert & Salzer or Ingolstadt Spinnereimaschinenbau.

The first e-mails with pictures and details of spinning machines have already reached Rieter. The most interesting machines are described below:

In China 26-year-old E 7/5 combers and E 5/3 combing preparation machines are still in production at Qiaoguang Textile Co. Ltd. These machines are still in good condition and the customer is full of praise for their quality, and especially their wear resistance.

Rieter has received an e-mail from El Salvador with pictures of various drawframes. Our customer Hilosa (Industria de Hilos) has operated SB 851, RSB 951 SB 2 and SB 10 drawframe models since 1978 und is still very satisfied with the reliability of these machines.

ROJ upgrades production with SIPLACE SX machines

Italy’s ROJ Srl, a manufacturer of weft feelers, sensors and control units for modern weaving machines, has selected the new SIPLACE SX platform to streamline its production of electronic modules. The company, which is known for its lean manufacturing concepts, manufactures lot sizes ranging from 50 to 10,000 units.

ROJ uses the SMT capacities at its Biella location for the build-to-order production of its world-famous weft feeders with their highly sensitive sensor technology as well as for the contract manufacture of industrial automation electronics. In a systematic selection process, SIPLACE prevailed against competitive
equipment in all critical categories such as performance per square meter, feeder capacity, actual placement speed for ROJ-supplied sample products, high-mix setup concepts and handling flexibility for exotic and odd-shaped components.

Since the beginning of this summer, Italy’s ROJ Srl, a subsidiary of globally active
textile machine maker van de Wiele Group, manufactures its electronic assemblies on SIPLACE SX placement machines.

The two new SIPLACE SX2 machines form the company’s third production line; one machine is equipped with two SIPLACE CPP Multistar placement heads, while the other
machine has one SIPLACE CPP Multistar and one SIPLACE TwinHead. This configuration provides the ability to process a wide range of products quickly and flexibly, which is one of the major features of the SIPLACE SX platform, since there is a production requirement of approx. 150 different products with lot sizes ranging from 50 to 10,000 units.
