ShanghaiTex 2011 will gather more than 1,000 high quality textile exhibitors at an exhibition area of over 92,000sqm. Among them, near 400 enterprises come from knitting, dyeing and finishing sectors, accounting for over 50% of the total exhibiting area. ATA Journal visited Santex’s headquarters in Switzerland and spoke to the company’s CEO, Antonio Staffoni. Mr Staffoni said, “We have a two-legged development model. China is located at the heart of Asian market, while in Europe we produce a lot of highly customized machines. Here in Switzerland, we focus on production and design of machines for technical textiles, composites, and textile finishing. We have a plan to improve the production in China for Asia market by strengthening the technology know-how in our factories.”

German Companies Eye on Strong Growth in Domestic Demand in China
After the financial turmoil in 2008, the global economy has begun to recover, especially for the China market which recorded continual booming trade figures. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in Jan – Aug 2010, the total import -export value of textile machinery was USD3.726 billion, showing year-on-year rise of 59.84% while the import value was USD2.642 billion, witnessing a year-on year rise of 63.13% and with a growth rate of 108.08%.
The huge increase in growth rate proves that China has become one of the prominent markets for foreign enterprises. In fact, Germany, as the 2nd largest textile machinery importing country to China during Jan – Aug 2010, has prepared to further expand its market share in China.
Eyeing on the strong domestic demand for textile machinery, German machinery makers, which have good reputation on durability of their products, are eager to explore the China market and join the German Pavilion for a big-scale showcase. Exhibitors, including Karl Mayer, Terrot, Mayer & Cie, Erhardt Leimer, Rauschert, Andritz Kuesters, Bobotex, Osthoff-Senge, Sedo Treepoint, Rosink, Brueckner, etc., will display leading warp-knitting, knitting, spinning, dyeing and finishing machineries.
Nowadays, textile manufacturers are interested to know and purchase energy-saving and environmental-friendly products. At textile machinery exhibitions in 2010, Groz-Beckert's litespeed needle became one of the focused products after it received a prestigious award in Germany in last April (2010).
Groz-Beckert is one of the key exhibitors of ShanghaiTex 2011 which will be held during Jun 14 –17, 2011 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, PR China. It is expected that Groz-Beckert's award-winning product and its latest innovations hit the market right and will become one of the focuses in Shanghaitex 2011.
Groz-Beckert describes that the litespeed needle is synonymous with precision and innovation in the best sense. "For the circular knitting machine, this means up to 20% lower temperature, less energy consumption, reduced oil requirement, minimized oil fogging and enormous carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction," the company said.
Tests found that if all relevant machines worldwide were equipped with litespeed needles, it would result in an annual CO2 reduction of over 457 million tonnes, according to Groz-Beckert.
The company was awarded the KYOCERA Environment Prize in 2010, which is one of the highest-value competitions for environmental protection in Germany stressing innovation, market potential, environmental relief and also transferability to other companies.

Global economy has been reviving from the global financial crisis since 2008. Chinese textile industry has been recovering at the fastest pace. According to the reports from both national statistic bureau and customs, the fixed asset investment in textile industry was up to RMB13.12 billions in the 1st quarter of 2010, equivalent to a 20.7% increase over last year.
The total export amount has reached 15.21 billions, equivalent to a 26.6% increase over last year. In the mean time, the domestic market has thrived despite the global financial crisis, with countless high-end brands from both domestic and international seizing the opportunity in Chinese market.
