CEMATEX and its organiser, MP International, is launching a global platform at ITMA 2011 to share trends, exchange views and collaborate for the textile industry’s sustainable future. The Sustainable Textile Leaders Roundtable Dialogue will see participation from major textile machinery manufacturers, textile and apparel producers, and brands and retailers when they converge at ITMA 2011 this September.
Organised as part of ITMA’s 60th anniversary celebrations, the inaugural dialogue is scheduled to be held on the opening day, 22 September 2011, at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via.
Ms Sylvia Phua, Chief Executive Officer of MP International said, “Besides focusing on innovation and creativity, industry players need to tackle pressing environmental issues to ensure the long term sustainability of their businesses and secure their place in the global economy. We are pleased to partner with Textile Exchange to launch this dialogue to help all textile leaders in their quest for sustainability.”
Consumers are increasingly demanding eco-friendly products and supporting businesses that adopt eco-friendly processes, hence textile makers need to explore cost efficient and environmentally friendly solutions to meet rapidly growing demand. Companies with strong environmental and social commitments who spoke at a recent Textile Exchange conference also noted they had increased sales - even during the recession - as consumers chose to support companies with such initiatives.
Ms LaRhea Pepper, Senior Director of Textile Exchange said, “Textile sustainability enables the entire value chain to find cost savings and production efficiencies and pass those savings on to customers, while reducing the impact of textile production on people and the environment. With this as the key motivation behind the inaugural dialogue, we will be working closely with the organiser of ITMA 2011 to ensure we make a positive difference in the global textile industry.”
Since the inauguration in 1984, ShanghaiTex has developed into one of the most established textile machinery exhibition in China and has been identified as a---- national brand with international and modern management. Stepping into its 15th edition, The International Exhibition on Textile Industry (ShanghaiTex 2011) will be staged again at Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Pudong, Shanghai during June 14 – 17, 2011.
ShanghaiTex 2011 will gather more than 1,000 high quality textile exhibitors at an exhibition area of over 92,000sqm. Among them, near 400 enterprises come from knitting, dyeing and finishing sectors, accounting for over 50% of the total exhibiting area. Green and technological exhibits are one of the highlights that could not be missed by industry players.
Textile machinery and equipment do not only serve as production tools, but also play an important role to improve quality & efficiency, save energy, reduce consumption and pollution of the whole production process. The third edition of the combined ITMA ASIA + CITME show will be held from 12 to 16 June 2012 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. It will continue to be the unrivalled marketing platform for textile machinery manufacturers tapping into the vibrant China market.
The Asian region is forecast to emerge by 2015 as one of the fastest growing markets, spurred on by such initiatives. In China, for example, one of the priorities under the government’s 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015) is to raise the craftsmanship, techniques and equipment to reach the international level for textile and other industry sectors.
Besides the development and application of high-technology fibres, energy-saving, emission-reduction and environment-friendly technologies will also be the focus for China’s textile industry in the coming years.
Mr Stephen Combes, President of CEMATEX which owns the ITMA and ITMA ASIA exhibitions, said, “The opportunities presented by China’s huge market remain an attraction for machinery manufacturers from around the world.

The successful track record of International Textile Manufacturers Federation - ITMA ASIA + CITME has helped garner huge support from major players around the world, pointed out Mr Wang Shutian, President of China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA).
ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, and the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, will organize two technological seminars in Pakistan. The two events will take place in Karachi (March 14th) and Lahore (March 17th).
The following 7 leading Italian manufacturers of textile machinery will present their latest technology developments at the Pakistani textile companies: Loris Bellini, Comez Gestioni, Corino Macchine, Jaeggli Meccanotessile, Mario Crosta, Roj, Simet.
For 2010 Pakistan confirms itself as one of the major destination for Italian exports of textile machinery. In January-October 2010 Italian sales in the Pakistani market totalled a value of Euro 35.5 million (+228% on the same period of the previous year). Among the Asian markets Pakistan is the third one, only behind China and India.
Italian sales in Pakistan for the first ten months of 2010 are divided into spinning (44% of the total), finishing (22%), weaving (15%), accessories (13%) and knitting (6%).
These technological seminars fall into the many initiatives already carried out as part of the ongoing promotional activities organized by ACIMIT and Italian Institute for Foreign Trade over the years in Pakistan. The promotional activities include training courses organized in Italy for Pakistani textile operators and technological seminars occurring in the Country.
Christian Guinet, Commercial Manager (Textile division) of Stäubli France had just been elected President of the French Association of Textile Machinery Manufacturers’ Promotion Commission when the two conferences organized by UCMTF in Syria and Turkey took place on October 19 and 21, 2010.
Together with Evelyne Cholet, the Secretary General, he headed the French delegation. After the events he stated “we organized these conferences because we recognize the importance of direct communication between our customers and the top management of our companies. We consider our customers as our partners and want to personally understand their needs. It was a real privilege to receive so many well-known companies, we are very rewarded with these conferences outcome and we look forward to meet all these dynamic companies again and again.”
Evelyne Cholet adds “to have a more direct and personal contact with our customers we organized two conferences on both sides of the Syrian-Turkish border: one in Aleppo (Syria) and one in Gaziantep (Turkey). This enabled us to focus on the particular specialities of each group and to offer our customers the opportunity to listen and speak in their own languages.”
The French delegation included: N. Schlumberger, Laroche, Asselin-Thibeau, Andritz Perfojet, SwissTex France, Superba, Stäubli, Ebelmann, Dollfus&Muller, AESA Air Engineering, Alliance Machines Textiles, Rousselet, Callebaut de Blicquy.
Orders for Italian textile machinery grew over the second quarter of 2010, which closed with an overall index of 159.5 points for the period from April/June, amounting to a 35% increase compared to the previous quarter.
In market terms, the orders index processed by ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, indicates a 40% increase abroad and a 5% increase in Italy.
Commenting on the data, Sandro Salmoiraghi, President of ACIMIT, stated that “the growth in orders is a satisfying element, but the recovery has more or less equally rewarded other machinery manufacturing Countries as well, so that competition on international markets is even fiercer than in the past.”
Forecasts for the third quarter of 2010 provided by producers indicate an essentially stable situation in all segments for Italy’s domestic market. More consistent signs of optimism are coming from foreign sales.
“The orders coming in over the next three months” affirms Salmoiraghi “will be decisive in understanding whether the recovery marks a real reversal of trends.”
ACIMIT (Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers) is a private national body that gathers Italian textile machinery companies producing more than 80% of the entire Italian textile machinery production, and some associated members (consortia, technical schools, technical magazines, research centres).

With an extensive visitor promotion campaign, AAMA-TEX 2010 is targeting to attract some 5,000 visitors and global buyers. These include garment and textile manufacturers, distributors, importers, traders, consultants, designers as well and fabric and textile specifiers. The key visitor markets are ASEAN and South Asia textile and garment regions.
